A Request for Information (ROI) is a procurement action that is primarily used to collect information about specific goods or services before finalizing specifications or Terms of Reference, and before issuing any tendering document.
UNAIDS conducts this activity as part of the EOI process described above.
However, an ROI can be conducted separately to obtain information from potential suppliers on specifications of their latest products, price indications, or any other information that could be used. This tool is mostly used in the sourcing process, but can also be used specifically to obtain information for developing specifications/TOR/ SOW. It is not used to design specifications which suit a specific supplier, but rather to learn and broaden the knowledge of what is available on the market.
